Is the wiki outdated, do I overlook something or should I just beeline to uranium clubs when starting a tribal run? Is the only downside of this that uranium is rather rare? At the start, yes. They're all still very valuable in that regard. At the very worst, which I don't know any wiki page there that is truly terrible, they're still going to be mostly correct in the theme/point of the information they're trying to get across. The wiki isn't really that outdated and many pages are updated with every new patch, particularly those that are touched by the new DLC.

Insects and mechs do not like blunt damage. Keep in mind "damage type" means a lot and you're more likely to get good damage returns on blunt than cut/pierce. At least the best you can craft at the very start. Is the wiki outdated, do I overlook something or should I just beeline to uranium clubs when starting a tribal run? Schnappkatze eredeti hozzászólása:Thanks for necroing, I have a weapon question for a long time.Īm I correct with my impression that for a tribal start, a uranium club is the best melee weapon by a long shot? Accoring to the Rimworld Wiki a club made from uranium has a DPS of 8.55, which not only puts it above a mace that is made from uranium (assuming normal quality I guess) but also above any other weapon that can be produced with tribal tech. In my experience this makes them a bit safer than spears, I would rather an enemy make 6 attacks on me but have lost an arm by their third attack, than to have them make 5 normal attacks before being domed by a spear. Longswords may have slightly less instant kill potnetial than the spear as they slash more than stab, but this makes them more prone to chopping off limbs. Doing mainly stabbing damage they're more prone to getting an instant kill by piercing a vital organ and destroying it. Spears have very slightly less dps than longswords, being a little bit quicker with a little less damage. This makes them better when you want to take the attacking enemy alive or want to be more consistant in doing damage to armor enemies. Maces have the least instant lethality, but the best armor penetration. As far as straight damage goes, they're all very comparable, but the game isn't just about dps, like when a rabbit manages to claw out your pawn's eyes before it gets destroyed by their charge rifle. The main choices between Mace, Longsword, and Spear come down to different degrees of lethality and incapacitation. nothing really interesting there - just a straight advantage in damage output for the melee guy a well equiped melee pawn just does better damage up close and forces the ranged pawn to fight him with the butt of his ranged weapon. i think the dev is doing good things with giving melee pawns a chance to dodge but other than that melee is rather simple. melee needs some love it needs some complexity. IN my opinion, it doesn't seem to matter too much what melee weapon you give your pawn and what's more, where is my shield and my saddle so that my pawn's can ride a muffalo? joking.kind of. Why would you every make less damaging melee weapons if you can afford to make the long sword and you CAN ALWAYS afford to make the long sword once you have it researched. What about spears, knives, gladius, mace etc? And where the hell is my ax in this game? Please give advice or reasons for why you might arm a colonist with a knife or gladius instead of always giving them a long sword. I have done some reading on the subject from other posts and they just seem to say that the longsword is most lethal for fighting and the club is best for incapcitating so you can capture. I am doing a mostly all melee colony which is proving to be very effective cause my pawns also take advantage of armor and traps and close quarters combat - but! I've really no idea what weapons are better or worse for them. I really am at a loss for chosing melee weapons to arm my pawns with.
